Vornado ReView, by Duck

Vornado hereby validates the following vociferous, vivid ventilation:

Vindicated by Vornado's V-FlowJuly 26, 2012
This review is from: Vornado 153 Tower Circulator - 32" Upright Fan (Black) (Misc.)
I vow to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of Vornado V-power!

This vivacious visage, no mere veneer of vanity atop a vanilla fan, envelops the power of V-flow. So villains, set aside your vexation, and stand vivified at the velvet caress of the V-Flow and feel your stress vanish.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, but the veracity of this virtuously vigilant argument has hopefully vindicated the Vornado's value.

How Does Auto Climate Control Work On Vornado Heaters?

Vornado Auto Climate Control Icon
Vornado heaters offer a completely unique way to maintain room comfort with an advanced control technology called Auto Climate Control. In order to understand how Auto Climate Control is unique, first, we need to look at how typical heaters attempt to control room temperature.

No Control Whatsoever

When you buy an entry-level heater, there's a decent chance that it has no thermostat on board, which means it has no way to automatically regulate its temperature output. With these units, you set your desired heat setting, and the unit will run non-stop at that setting, regardless of the room temperature. This is the simplest form of heat control, and in actuality, offers no automatic control of your room temperature.

Hot Or Cold - The Thermostat
Some heaters are equipped with a Thermostat. Much like a Thermostat in your central heating and air system, a heater's Thermostat will monitor for certain temperature conditions, and then automatically turn itself on or off in an attempt to keep a balanced temperature. As you can imagine, when the heater turns off, absolutely no heat is being created until the room cools off to a certain point. This creates hot and cool cycles. The temperature variations thermostats allow for (in order to decide when to turn on and off) varies by manufacturer, but often is several degrees.

A Smarter Way - The Thermistor
Vornado auto climate control works differently than standard heaters with thermostats
Vornado's Auto Climate Control uses a control technology called aThermistor to more intelligently regulate the heater's settings. Instead of just telling the heater to turn the heating element on or off athermistor can tell the heating system to produce more or less heat. This is  superior to "on and off" operation because just the right amount of heat is being created to keep room conditions as desired - no more, and no less. But, this is only part of Auto Climate Control's magic. A Vornado will also intelligently adjust it's fan speed up or down, so that the unit is not only controlling heat output, but heat circulation as well. The combination of the two factors makes Auto Climate Control a uniquely effective option for winter comfort.

If you want to know which Vornado heaters feature Auto Climate Control, just hit the "compare" tab near the top of the Whole Room Heaters page of our site. Check the boxes next to the models you are considering, and if it says Thermistor on the results window, then you know that heater has this great feature.

Jessica Sanchez's Number One Fan - American Idol 11

The Competition may be heating up on American Idol - but in some cases, one could say things are cooling off.

On the March 7th episode, Jessica Sanchez gave an emotional rendition of the late Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." The vocals were spot on, fog was filling the stage, and suddenly, as Jessica broke into a particularly dramatic part of the refrain, a powerful blast of air stirred the fog and completed the theatrical feel of the performance.

Following the song, Ryan Seacrest took notice of the inspired theatrics, saying "I want to see that move again! Can we dim the lights and crank up that fan? Can we still crank up the fan, Jim?" Jim obliged the host, and for a moment, the audience caught a glimpse of Jessica's supporting actor. Though it was incognito in an all-black paint job, the now-famous fan was actually a Vornado 293 HD. Without it's signature yellow and gray coloring, even Vornado enthusiasts may have had a tough time recognizing the rugged fan.

The American Idol crew couldn't have picked a better air mover- the 293 blasts a tight beam of air up to 100 feet (allowing it to be placed well off camera, of course.) The rubberized handle makes it easy to toss on and off stage, and the durable OSHA approved construction means it can take the kind of beating that only a bustling production set could deliver.

Speaking on behalf of Vornado, we can officially say we're Jessica Sanchez's number one fan. Who knows, maybe the Stealth 293HD will make another cameo?

Why Modern Family Nailed The Wizard Of Oz Themed Party

If you caught Modern Family Episode 17 - Leap Day, you saw Mitchell's elaborately planned Wizard of Oz themed birthday party (featuring the wonders of Technicolor.)

Though the party was not meant to be, Mitchell's planner had evidently done her research.

Case in point: The "Tornado" Fan that blasts party guests as they enter. Despite the logo being "gaffed" this is actually the Vornado 783 Circulator.

Could the planner have known that the Vornado name is a combination of "Vortex" and "Tornado" because of the tornado-like airflow it produces?

Did she know that Vornado's headquarters is in Andover, KS - possibly only miles away from Dorothy's home?

Was she aware of the fact that it was actually built in Andover, KS - That the plastic exterior, blades and metal stand were also made in Kansas?

Or was she just happy that the adjustable base allowed the fan to rest comfortably above the Kansas-themed hay bales?

Or... did the fact that Cam (Eric Stonestreet) attended Kansas State University, in Manhattan KS, have something to do with all of this?

Regardless, Mitchell, IE the Modern Family writers, nailed the details of the Wizard of Oz party - the real question is, do they know how right they actually were?

In her segment “Chilling - Hot Ideas for Cold Weather Living” Washington Post reporter Jura Koncius describes a number of helpful tips to keep comfortable this winter. From upgrading your thermostat, to heated matress pads, to simple layering with Robes and cozy throws - there are a range of ways to keep energy usage down and remain warm during cold winter months.

Jura also describes the benefits of upgrading your space heater. “Over the years, the space heater, a popular alternative heating source, has morphed into a safer, smarter and more stylish home appliance. A new model from Vornado has technology that senses the heat around it and communicates with the heater to maintain a desired temperature. The unit has a digital touch-screen control and a cool-touch outer case that never heats up, according to Brian Cartwright, a Vornado spokesman.

A hand-held remote senses the temperature of the room, then tells the unit to heat up or cool down to maintain the perfect comfort level. But be careful: When you buy any space heater, it is important to read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Always keep portable heaters away from furniture, bedding and curtains. Vornado model TVH 600 is $209.99. www.vornado.com.”Of course, we couldn’t agree more - The red, glowing space heater you may remember as a kid has seen some sizeable technology upgrades - and with the energy and dollar savings potential, it’s well worth it to know what new options are out there.
